Your electricity bill is about to rocket and we're not talking about the energy companies putting their prices up (though they probably are).
The energy saving trust highlight issues with some people struggling to pay their fuel bills in their blog this week http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/blog/2012/10/23/energy-bills-when-silence-is-not-golden/
We've reached that time of year when you leave home in the mornings in haze and mist and general dingy light. The last few mornings for us here heading in to work has been very damp and dull. Going home is even worse. It's now very dull at going home time and it's going to get darker and colder the further we get in to the year. All obvious stuff but we should remember that these darker conditions effect our energy behaviour by us running our lights for longer hours in the day. If we are already finding it difficult to pay our fuel bills then this is the time of year that will only make it worse.
Those extra few hours make all the difference so it might be time to consider using a more efficient light. There are light bulbs and lamps that are very low energy yet provide the same light output as your normal traditional lights now available. And don't be put off if they seem expensive. The savings you make on your bill will have paid for them before the lighter nights come back on the other side of winter. For a full range of energy efficient lamps please visit our website http://www.low-energy-lighting.com/bulbs.htm
